The volunteer opportunities outlined here are positions that require a specialized skill set. Often, these positions require a long-term, regular commitment to fulfill a programming need. Adult: Craft Assistant
Department: Children's
Supervisor: Children's Librarian
Length of Commitment: One year minimum
Time Involvement: 3 to 4 hours per week
Position Summary:
The perfect position for anyone who enjoys the creative energy of children learning! Adult volunteer needed on storytime days, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9am to 12pm.
Major Responsibilities:
To assist with general department maintenance, shelving plus craft preparation and set up.
Qualifications:
Experience with children, preferably through teaching or children's programming. Good organizational skills, attention to details, dependable and prompt. Able to physically move books from cart to shelf.

Adult Facilitator: Kids Chess Club
Department: Children's
Supervisor: Children's Librarian
Length of Commitment: One year minimum
Time Involvement: 3 to 4 hours per month
Position Summary:
Adult with an expert knowledge of chess willing to team lead a monthly kid’s chess club. Kids in the club range from 5-12 years of age and possess a wide range of skill levels. This club meets once a month on the third Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm.
Major Responsibilities:
To work with other chess team leaders to prepare and present a monthly chess lesson for the Kids Chess Club.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma or GED. Experience with children, preferably through teaching or children's programming. Good organizational skills, attention to details, dependable and prompt.

Teen with an expert knowledge of origami, willing to team lead a monthly kid’s origami club. Kids in the club range from 5-12 years of age and possess a wide range of folding skill levels. This club meets once a month on the second Wednesday of the month at 4:00 pm.
Major Responsibilities:
To work with other origami team leaders to prepare and present a monthly lesson of models ranging in skill level for the Kids Origami Club.
Qualifications:
Experience with children, preferably through teaching or children's programming. Good organizational skills, attention to details, dependable and prompt.
