The Dewey Decimal System attempts to classify all information into 10 main classes, with each class containing 10 divisions. Once you figure out the Dewey number of the subject that interests you, most of the time you will be able to find more of the same kind of book shelved nearby. This organizational method applies to our Non-Fiction and our Reference materials, but it also applies to our Non-Fiction Audiovisual collections as well.
Generally, BPL's Fiction collections are alphabetized by the author's last name. In some cases, we may categorize popular series in numerical, series order.
