 Q:  Where is the library located?
A:
Bentonville Library is located at 405 S Main Street, just 3 blocks south of the Downtown Square.  View our map for directions. 

Q: How do I get a library card?
A
: Bring your government-issued photo ID (such as a driver's license) and proof of residency (such as a utility bill) to the library. Complete a registration card. Or, check out our Online Borrowing Registration form. For more info, visit Borrowing.

Q: How old do you have to be to get a library card?

A: 5 years old; all minors under the age of 18 require a parent/legal guardian signature.

Q: How much does it cost to get a library card?
A
: Free library cards are available to all residents and/or property owners in Benton County, Bentonville city employees, educators in the Bentonville school district, Bentonville business owners and Fayetteville residents. Non-residents include all patrons living outside, but adjacent to Benton County.  Non-residents are required to pay a $15 annual fee per household.

Q: Why did my card expire?
A
: BPL updates every library account annually.  This allows us to keep track of changes in patrons? contact info.  To update your account, please visit the library. 

 Q: What's my PIN number?
A
: Your default PIN is the last digits of your primary telephone number.

Q: My phone number has changed; did my PIN number change too?
A
: Not automatically.  Please inform library staff of your contact change and request that your PIN be reset.  Or, you may edit your contact info and change your library PIN online through My Account.

Q: How do I set up an EZ Log On?
A
: It's easy!  Click on My Account, then Create an EZ Log On.  Fill out the short form:  enter your library card number (no spaces), your PIN, a unique username then create and re-enter a password.  Click Finish Creating Your EZ Log On.  This final step will take you directly to your account information.  You may change your EZ Log On or EZ Password online, at any time, through My Account

 Q: How long are books checked out?
A
: BPL books check out for 3 weeks.  eBooks check out for 2 weeks.  

Q: How many videos can I check out at a time?
A
: 30 items, regardless of format, may be checked out on your library card. 

 Q: May I renew my books online?
A
: Yes, click on My Account and enter your library card/PIN or use your EZ Log On to enter your account.  Click the Renew button near each title, or click Renew All at the bottom of the page.

Q: Why can?t I renew my books?
A
: Items cannot be renewed for the following reasons:  if fees in excess of $5.00 have accumulated on your account; if renewal limits have been met; if items are on hold for another patron; or, if your account is expired or blocked for an administrative reason.

 Q: How do I put a book on hold? 
A
: When viewing the record of the item you wish to hold, click Request.  You will be prompted to enter your library card/PIN or EZ Log On.  Upon logging in, you may be prompted to click I want the first available copy or I want a specific copy.  Select your response and click Submit Request.  If you want a specific copy, click I want a specific copy, then check the box near the specific copy.  Click Submit Request

Q: Where do I pick up my hold?
A
: The self service pick-up area is located near the self check terminals.  Your item is shelved under your last name.  You must still check out your hold. 

 Q: How can I suggest a purchase for the library?
A
: Simply fill out the Suggest a Purchase online form.  Your request will be reviewed and considered by a librarian.

Q: How does the library select books for the collection?
A
: Professional librarians select materials for the collection based on BPL's Collection Development Policy.  Primarily, consideration is given to book review sources such as Library Journal, School Library Journal, Booklist and Hornbook.  BPL also subscribes to Best Seller standing order plans, allowing us to automatically receive new titles by your favorite authors. We are highly selective with donated books for the collection.  If we do not catalog donations, our Friends group will sell them, providing us with funds to purchase new materials.

 Q: How do I check out eBooks?
A
: Log on to Library2Go! to check out eBooks, downloadable audiobooks, videos and music.  You will need your Bentonville Library card and PIN to check out.  Our digital media is compatible with many devices, including your personal computer, Nook, Kindle, Apple products and more.  You will be required to download free software or other applications.  Also, check out the free Overdrive mobile app!  For more info, visit Help with eBooks.

 Q: Do you have a fax machine?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not provide fax service.  

 Q: How do I log in to the computers?
A
: To log into the library's computers, enter your library card number (no spaces) and your PIN.  Your default PIN is the last digits of your telephone number.

Q: Do you have a scanner?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not provide a document scanner.

Q: Do you have WIFI?
A
: Yes, BPL offers FREE wireless internet (WIFI) for laptop users throughout the library, during regular business hours.  

 Q: Is BPL a Notary Public?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not provide notary services. 

 Q: Can you get books from other libraries?
A
: Yes, BPL offers Interlibrary Loan services for a small cost recovery fee.  For more info, visit Interlibrary Loans.

Q: Can I return books from other libraries to Bentonville?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not currently participate in a courier service for other libraries? materials. 

 Q: Do you have phone books from other cities or states?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not keep phone books from other cities or states.  For information help, contact Reference at 479-271-6815.

 Q: How much do copies cost?
A
: $0.15 per page, black and white; $0.30 per page, full color. 

Q: How much do computer classes cost?
A
: BPL offers a variety of free computer classes to the public.  Learn more about our classes for adults.

 Q: May I take my coffee to the study room?
A
: Yes, drinks and light snacks are allowed inside the library. 

Q: May I take food into the library?
A
: Sorry, no food is allowed inside the library, or the study rooms.  However, food from the library café is allowed in our three meeting rooms. 

 Q: Do I have to reserve the study rooms?
A
: The individual study rooms are available on a first-come first-served basis.  The group study rooms may be reserved.  For more info, visit Meeting Rooms

 Q: Do you use court ordered community service workers?
A
: Sorry, no, BPL does not work with court ordered community service workers.
